The Harvard Extension Alumni Association Board of Directors work together to build a more active and engaged alumni body. Together they strive to provide Harvard Extension School alumni a wide array of opportunities to connect, celebrate, learn, network, and lead in their communities.
Celebrating 50 Years
We are excited to announce that 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Harvard Extension Alumni Association! To commemorate this historic milestone, the Association will be hosting a series of celebratory events over the course of the calendar year, including a spectacular 50th Anniversary Luncheon on Saturday, March 24th 2018 at the Harvard Faculty Club. This semi centennial celebrates all members of the association and recognizes the key alumni volunteers over the past 50 years that have enabled the association to flourish and evolve over time.
We hope you will join in the festivities. With that in mind, we are asking for your help! We are looking to compile stories, experiences, old photos, and memorabilia involving Harvard Extension School and the Alumni Association. These will be featured at various events over the course of 2018 and on our website for all to enjoy. Please contact the Office of Alumni Affairs if you have items to share and help make this a truly historic year!

HEAA President's Welcome
Dear fellow alumni,
As a vibrant summer makes way to a crisp autumn here in Cambridge, a very special academic year opens: Spring of 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the Harvard Extension Alumni Association and we have big plans to celebrate!
I welcome you all – and especially our newest members from the Class of 2017 – to this very special year in the history of our University, our beloved Harvard Extension School and our Alumni Association.
Big changes have occurred in our community over the last five years: a new Dean took the helm and proudly highlights us on the Harvard map, student and alumni activity exploded on campus and worldwide, and with our newly engaged base, these truisms have emerged: we are more connected than ever, we feel energized by this, and there is no looking back.
In recognition of these truisms, we re-structured our Constitution and expanded the HEAA Board so we could serve you better. As an 18,000-strong community of Harvard Extension School alumni spanning over 100 countries, our “Harvard Extended” events traveled to cities beyond Cambridge with our recent gatherings in Greece, Paris and London. As we continue building on this momentum of connectivity, look for us this year in New York City, DC, Miami, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco and San Diego.
If you are nearby or able to travel to Cambridge, you’ll find an event for every taste: from Elf the Musical, Harvard-Yale football, Global Networking Night, Harvard Hockey, Hasty Pudding Theatricals, to the Alumni Reunion Weekend and the Commencement Banquet. Our event calendar is full and has something for everyone to enjoy and engage.
Our new HEAA Board and I recognize and thank you for this deep privilege in serving you during this very special and exciting time, as the baton passes to us from our founders, Edgar Grossman, ABE ‘66 and Ella Smith, ABE ‘66 – and every peer in between – from 1968 to 2018. We have much to be proud of and much to look forward to, in this very special year and for many years ahead. If you wish to help us bring an event to your city, please contact the alumni office.
With warmth and gratitude,
Payal Loungani ALB '05
