Join the HEAA  on Thursday, February 25th at 6:30PM EST via Zoom for “The Turning Point: How Pandemics Helped Conquer Mexico 500 Years Ago” presented by Harvard Divinity School professor Davíd Carrasco

Professor Carrasco will give an illustrated lecture on a major turning point (500 years ago) in early ‘American’ history i.e. the Spanish conquest of Mexico aided by the devastating pandemic that began in 1521.  The talk will link the small pox and measles plagues brought to the Americas by Europeans with the other ‘plague’ of the theory of natural slavery that swept through Spain, Mexico and eventually north into the American colonies.
