My interest in the Board of Directors comes from a long history of serving community and trying to improve conditions for people considered constituents.  I have served several non-profit boards over the past 25 years, ranging from community service to philanthropy and even a member of the Sports Philanthropy Network.  More recently I have become aware of the issues on campuses around the country surrounding both hate speech and free speech and feel that there needs to be a representative on this Harvard Board who understands the importance of keeping the campuses safe for all attendees.

When I attended Harvard Extension in the early 1990s, I was working full-time for a municipality on Cape Cod, traveling to campus 3–4 nights a week and doing my best to balance on campus activities with classmates, a full-time work schedule and my personal life.  While students today have the benefit of t he internet and online access to classes, the library, and other related resources, it still requires a strong commitment to their advanced studies in order to further their career and their future accomplishments.

I pledge as a Director to take all constituents points of view into consideration before voting on any action.
