Harvard’s alumni network is a powerhouse, but I believe we can deepen its reach and relevance.
I’d focus on expanding mentorship programs to support diverse or alternative career paths — in many ways Harvard Extension School pioneered this over 100 years ago when it offered courses to the people of greater Boston.
And I can also draw on my cross-disciplinary skills over many industries such as agriculture, technology, and the military to name a few to further this concept.
Yet, recent challenges for Harvard — like debates over campus culture or public perception — show we need voices that can unite, innovate, and offer different vantages.
I’ve navigated complex stakeholder dynamics before in the US military and government — I’d bring that resilience, transparency, and fairness here.
Ultimately, as a father of 3 young children, I want Harvard to be just as incredible and accessible for my children and others as it was for me.
