Getting Back to it

September 15, 2022

Michael Fabiano

Hello fellow alumni,

I hope you had a nice summer and were able to find a few moments to recharge. It’s time to celebrate and congratulate over 3,000 new HEAA members (virtual clap, clap). These comprise new master’s degree recipients and certificate holders. Well done!

HES alumni know how challenging it is, to balance college level classes, along with work, travel, family, and other commitments. It’s a real accomplishment to complete a program at HES and you should take time to enjoy the moment.

The pandemic has established live online and hybrid learning more mainstream than ever before. HES also set a new standard in higher education that continues to evolve. The mixture of technological advancements in augmented reality, bringing diverse cultures together live online and in person, creates a rich experience.

Alumni, students, and administration are further excited for the return to in-person learning and events across division. Whether you engage through classes, activities, or alumni events – there is no substitute for the human connection we feel when we gather together. Global alumni events are returning with great vigor in Barcelona, Paris and Milan in September. London is next in early November with more to come. A few alumni have already emailed me about the Harvard vs. Yale football game. Crimson are sure to take the Bulldogs again this year!

The alumni board continues to execute on our relatively new strategic plan. The approach is working evidenced by the increased alumni engagement around the world. I am very proud of the enthusiasm of our HES board team and encourage you to get involved in some way in your geographic area. There are increasing levels of activity around events, marketing, social media, career development, lifetime learning and development.

As always, if you haven’t done so recently, please take a moment to update your Harvard Alumni profile. Feel free to use my profile as an example. And lastly, please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or send your questions and ideas to alumni@extension.harvard.edu.

Stay positive and best of luck!
