I have a deep appreciation for self-governed organizations such as HEAA and they are fantastic when thing are going well but how very bad they can go in conflict. I look to organizations, especially those self-governed ones, to plan and organize as if things will go wrong but focus to create an environment of trust and inclusion, one where everyone can feel heard. Good governance can and must develop such an environment.
One of the things I have always appreciated most about the Extension School is the depth of diversity both in people’s backgrounds and their perspectives as a result of those backgrounds. My goal as the governance lead will be to advise and assist the Executive team to create and maintain such an environment.
