Jose is a National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellow. He is the author of The Fire Eater (Texas Review Press, 2020) and Bad Mexican, Bad American (forthcoming in 2024). His work appears in American Poetry Review, Georgia Review, Iowa Review, Missouri Review, Poetry, Southern Review, and Yale Review, among many other literary journals and magazines, along with The Best American Nonrequired Reading Anthology 2011. He teaches creative writing online and edits for Frontier Poetry.
