Robert Dieter

As a Professor of Medicine pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management at Harvard allowed me to purposefully learn more about a discipline which, although I use daily, I had no formal education. My Harvard education has allowed me to better help others within my clinical work, but also with community involvement and volunteering:

  • Serving Veterans of the United States in my roles as:
    • Clinical care within the hierarchy of Federal healthcare
    • Lead cardiologist on the National VA Long COVID-19 guideline writing committee
    • Multiple committee involvement for improving the care of Veterans, including the local mental health council
  • Researcher
  • Serving as the Director of the Library Board at the International Museum of Surgical Sciences, which has thousands of rare medical texts
  • Educational involvement:
    • Tutoring at the local grade school for high-risk students, using Harvard-based concepts to positively affect lifelong changes
    • High school level academic tutoring
    • Local school district task force on education improvement
    • Medical School Admissions committee and Dean’s Task Force on Excellence
    • Serving on philanthropic scholarship boards
  • Giving back to the Extension School:
    • Volunteer on committees
    • Lecturer for master’s level classes
    • Invited guest speaker at the Extension School
    • Ongoing engagement with peers
  • Meaningful farming and nature-related activities:
    • Founded the Naturalists and Explorers Club at the Harvard Club of New York
    • Nature writer
    • Farming on family farm
    • Intercollegiate development of naturalist activities
    • Purposeful traveler taking my family to see all 50 of the United States and 6 continents
    • Missionary work

As a HEAA Director, I will work steadfastly to support the Extension School and our common goals. It will be a sincere privilege to serve our community and our role within Harvard University.
